The weather this week has been so sunny and warm. It has been great to be able to get out and enjoy some time in it with the children. We’ve had a good mixture of time at home and outings this week. It also finally feels that we are in a better routine after the school holidays.
Seeing the children after a night away
Having had Sunday night away for my husbands birthday, it was lovely to get home to see Charley and Bodhi for cuddles, thankfully both seemed very pleased to see us. We had a little bit of time at home before we went out for dinner to continue the celebrations for my husbands birthday, ending with a chocolate hedgehog cake!
Blackberry hunting unsuccessful, throwing stones in tub of water – thumbs up!
After picking Charley up from nursery on Tuesday afternoon I thought we could have a little hunt for blackberries on some of the bushes down the path opposite our house. It seems that we were a little late, we picked two! Then Charley got tangled up in the brambles so not so successful. However, on the way back home we stopped on our drive to pick the last tomatoes on our plants, well I did, whilst the children both loved throwing stones into a tub of water.
Catching up with friends at the new play area in Farnham Park
We finally managed to catch up with some friends on Thursday afternoon and as the weather was still sunny and warm we headed to the new play area in Farnham Park. It’s a great play area, with lots of different wooden play equipment such as a castle, a slide set in the hill, a zip wire, swings and probably a few other things that we didn’t get to see. The children all had a brilliant time and I’m sure we’ll be heading there quite often.
Hindhead Common, cycling and climbing
Another lovely sunny afternoon on Friday meant we headed to Hindhead and the Devils Punch Bowl. The main reason being we could finally take Charley out on her bike. It was lovely to be out walking in the sun, watching the children. Charley getting to grips with a new skill of cycling and Bodhi being out of the pushchair, toddling along on his little legs.
Having a tidy up in the garden
Our garden is tiered. Two levels are grass and the lower level has lovely astro type grass! I’m afraid to admit that I have been quite lazy this summer with the toys, paddling pool and putting them away in the evenings. It got to the point where I didn’t really want the children out in the garden as the paddling pools were full of manky rain water and balls so finally a free Saturday meant it was reserved for tidying and cutting grass. I was so pleased to give the outside toys a good wash and get them put away whilst the children enjoyed being able to spend time in the garden for a change. I must try to do better next summer with tidying up!
