5 fab things this week #23

Yay, we got through the week. I’d have never thought that such a simple thing as getting eye drops in a 3 1/2 would be so draining! The last two attempts have been a lot better and I think some of the drop is actually getting in her eye, hooray.

We’ve had a couple of nice walks even though the weather has turned a bit fresher this week. So on to my 5 fab things this week to make me remember that the week wasn’t sooooo bad!

Building bricks

Charley has really taken to some building bricks she was given as a present. She’s spent ages building castles with them, trying to get gaps in the walls for windows. It’s lovely how they suddenly take an interest in something when they’ve not been overly bothered before.

A day out at Wisley

We spent the day at Wisley on Wednesday. It was extremely windy but it was really nice to get a bit of fresh air and have a walk. We did spend a lot of time inside too due to the weather, but there is always plenty to see inside and out.

Rice playing

Whilst I got on with making our Christmas pudding at the weekend, Charley happily played with some blue coloured rice, pretending to feed it to her teddies. By teatime though, it was all over the floor and I even had to get the hoover out to clean it off the floor.

Ginger cake

With some of the left over stem ginger from the Christmas pudding I made a ginger cake. It didn’t look amazing as the edges got stuck to the tin but it tasted lovely, with a lemon icing. Blimin yum!

A walk around Fleet Pond

We met up with some friends on Sunday afternoon for a walk around Fleet Pond and then had some dinner in a nearby pub. Charley did really well walking and managed the whole way without going in the pushchair or being carried. It took over an hour to walk around so must have been getting on for 2 miles. It’s so rare to use the double pushchair now, feels like it might be the end of an era!

  2. Wisely looks beautiful! Sometimes you just want to go outside even though its cold, its horrible being stuck indoors all the time 🙂 Hope Charley’s eye is feeling better!

  3. That ginger cake looks amazing! And yes, so many of those wonderful projects we do with our kids are so messy… I just keep telling myself “it’s worth it, they are having fun, they’re learning, it’s worth it…” 😉 Sounds like a great week! #twinklytuesday

  4. Oh my, I almost licked the screen when I saw that cake- looks delish. We tried the sensory, colourful rice once. And then donated it to the kindergarten at my school. Way too much time spent trying to convince the baby not to eat it and then too found it everywhere for ages. Can’t think of much worse then trying to apply eye drops to a child. Hope she recovers soon.
