I started blogging to capture memories and milestones of the children. Bodhi is still at an age where his development changes on a monthly basis, so I wanted to record these times before I forget them.
Weight & clothes size
He’s about 23lb I think, we’ve not been to the health visitors for ages, and he doesn’t stay still on our home scales!
Bodhi’s tops, vests and pyjamas are now all size 12-18 months, although some are still a little long in the arm. He is now wearing some 12-18 month trousers but they are way too long and need rolling up!
Still in a size 3 1/2 F shoe, diddy feet are so cute!
Teething
He still has 4 teeth at the top front, 3 at the bottom front and there is one on each side at the back coming through. He still hasn’t got the 4th bottom front tooth through yet, although he has some molars at the bottom back coming through. They don’t seem to bother him too much though, fingers crossed.
Sleeping
Bodhi is still sleeping really well. He does like a long cuddle before he goes to sleep at bedtime but this is just lovely and he doesn’t really cry when he goes in his cot. He now has his nap after his lunch if we are at home which is working well.
We had one night when he was poorly and he was awake between midnight and 3am which was a real shock to the system for me, as I’ve got used to having a fairly good nights sleep (I might have to change my blogs name!!!!)
Food
He is still a good eater, though still not with vegetables. He is also getting quite good at using a fork by himself. It’s rare for me to have to feed him.
Bodhis favourite foods are still grated cheese, pom bears, grapes, pears, kiwis, bananas and ice-cream. He also homes in on any naughty food that I might be eating.
Talking
There has not been much change in the actual words that I can make out. All birds are still called ‘duck’. He does point to lots of things in a room so I tell him the name of the objects. He is quite good at making sounds like for thank you. He also sort of sings to row, row, row your boat and there were ten in the bed (roll over).
Favourite things
Still loves the ride-on zebra, red car and pushing Charleys pushchairs.
Loving sitting at the children’s table with all the pens, mostly taking the lids on and off, but also doing a little bit of scribbling.
Brushing his teeth, splashing in the bath, kicking in the swimming pool.
Swings, slides and merry-go-rounds at playgrounds.
Blowing raspberries on his sisters belly.
Stroking my hair when he goes down for a sleep.
Dislikes
Having things taken off him that he shouldn’t have.
Being away from his mummy.
His big sister bossing him around.
Attitude
Still a bit of a mummys boy, but I love it! He loves having cuddles.
He is mostly very easy going. Happy to go in the pushchair or car seat at the moment.
He will get his changing mat, nappies, wipes and his shoes and socks etc when asked.
He seems to want to be quite helpful at the moment, long may it last!
He can be a little destructive though. This month he has managed to sit on a pipe in our en suite and its broken away from the sink, he’s broken a little outside light, a sugar bowl and dish in a restaurant and pulled a knob off the cooker. I think we may delay putting up our Christmas tree!
What are your little ones up to at 18 months old? Do they say many words? Are they walking and running?
great post, lovely pics.

It’s good that he still sleeps easily I expect that will last now. His little legs will probably stretch out soon after a growth spurt and at least you don’t have to keep buying new shoes!

Probably the next time I go to get his feet measured they’ll have gone up two sizes or something!

My own 18, nearly 19, month old is a bit of a chatterbox and tears around like a bull in a china shop! He also loves pushing a buggy around the house and into every obstacle! I’m loving this age although i sometimes whistfully dream of the pre-moving days!!

It’s a great age, so cute when they still can’t talk and argue/negotiate!!

Bodhi sounds pretty laid back – I think you’ve done well there! Little M at 18 months was a little monkey when I look back! He’d tear around completely fearless and was so stubborn! Luckily he settled down a lot after 2! I agree to delay the Christmas tree though – he he! I think ours only fell down once last year which I thought wasn’t bad…!

I’m just hoping he doesn’t suddenly hit 2 and become a nightmare as he’s been so good so far!!!

My boy is 18 months on the 19th Dec. Sounds like he’s slightly bigger than your son as we have ventured into some 18-24 month clothing but they are a little big. He’s walking and running but like Bodhi he’s happy to go in his buggy or car seat still. Words wise we are doing quite well, L says “ta” for thank you (sometimes without prompting too) and he says mama, daddy, coco (our cat), ball, Al (Alex his friend), book, spoon and probably some more that I can’t remember. Isn’t it cute when they start learning actions to songs?! Although I am getting a bit sick of doing wind the bobbin up! Lol. L is very good at call and response. We have a couple of songs that he will finish for us now and when we say “Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na..” He says BATBA! (batman) lol. Thanks for sharing. A great idea to record milestones and I may steal the idea! #KCACOLS

I think its such a cute age, and they really start communicating so much in their funny own way. I’ve forgotten so much about what my daughter was like at this age, though I didn’t think I would, that I thought it would be a great way to record it. Wish I’d had my blog when my daughter was born too x KCACOLS

Aww he is so cute and this is a lovely post. I love that he has diddy little feet and actually likes brushing his teeth! When my son was 18months he was so sweet, it wasn’t long after that he started getting temper tantrums and refusing to do anything I asked..so make the most it haha.xx #KCACOLS

Thank you. Yes, I’m hoping he’s going to stay mellow for a little longer. My daughter has certainly had some ‘lovely’ tantrums from the age of 2 onwards, though I think we are coming out the other side now! KCACOLS

Such a lovely post – I really need to start doing something like this for my daughter, she’s 11 months and changing so quickly! I can see her being a total little madam by the time she’s 18 months, she already knows what she likes… and what she doesn’t. 🙂 #KCACOLS

Our tot is the same age. Running! But clumsily, he falls and collides with stuff a lot. He has lots of words but only a few are really clear. Having to watch what we say now as he has become a real parrot.

Oh Bodhi sounds so adorable. I had a little chuckle at him not liking his big sister bossing him around! They grow up super fast, I have a ten month old daughter and that has flew by. She does like to play up some nights so I’m yet to be sleeping through or familiar with a good nights sleep. I love reading other mummies little diary things, just gives me so much to look forward too. Thanks for sharing with us 🙂 #fartglitter

Oh no, hope she starts sleeping through soon, its so nice to get a whole nights sleep, even if its just one in a while! We go through phases with our daughter. She’s a lot better than she has been. Just hope Bodhi stays a good sleeper x #fartglitter
